The greatest gift anyone can give a child is help in learning to communicate and connect with his/her world. For many young children who experience developmental delays, learning to communicate can be one of the largest stumbling blocks to full participation in the opportunities available to them in their home and community. Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) involves alternate methods of communicating needs, feelings, ideas, and perceptions through the use of electronic and non-electronic devices and systems. These devices provide a means for expressive and receptive communication for persons with limited or no speech. Our goal is to always support natural speech development, many times the addition of a communication system, whether simple or complex, can help a child to develop their communication skills including speech.
